Today’s lovely jubbly episode – Yuppy Love
Yuppy Love, has always been an episode i enjoy and what i will watch if I’m bored, It’s an hilarious episode and has the great bar fall.
After seeing the film Wall Street for the fourth time, Del decides he wants to live a yuppie lifestyle. Rodney is completing his Computer Diploma Course at the Adult Education Course. Rodney has his eye on a sort there called Cassandra. As Rodney is leaving the Centre, Cassandra approaches him, Rodney gets the wrong idea thinking she is making the first move. Really she is giving Rodney his coat as he picked up her’s. Rodney asks how she knew, and she tells him that his name was written in it, causing Rodney embarrassment. Rodney walks her to her car what was down the road and offers him a lift. Until Del is heard calling his name. Later on Rodney is at a Nightclub with Mickey Pearce and Jevon. Mickey Pearce bets Rodney to ask Cassandra to dance as they spot her, she says OK and they dance. Mickey Pearce and Jevon are shocked by this. Later on Cassandra gives Rodney a lift home, he doesn’t want her to know he lives on an estate so he says he lives on a posh street and pretends a big house they see is where he lives. Cassandra later finds out that Rodney doesn’t actually live there when she phones the flat, because Rodney took the wrong coat, again!
One of the greatest, funniest episodes. A must-see.
Does anyone know what high street Cassandra, Emma, Mickey and Rodney are driving down before Mickey is dropped off? Thanks!
I enjoyed this episode very much over the years.
The great bar fall being one of the best physical comedy pieces I’ve ever seen, a Classic!
But at the same time I was very annoyed with the BBC for putting that in the trailer, so by the time the show aired I had already seen it 20 times!
That amount of repetition tends to take a bit of the surprise away(!)
But since then, I’ve watched it many times in context, and it’s getting better every time.
Does anyone know what nightclub was used for filming Yuppy Love?
It was filmed at the Parkside Hotel, Bath Road in Bristol. In those days there was a nightclub at the hotel. These days Parkside is now known as The Arnos Manor Hotel – http://www.arnosmanorhotel.co.uk
