Convention 2003
Licensed to Thrill!
It seems impossible but each year our Convention attracts more
and more fans, I'm sure there must have been over 2000 people
attending Basildon's Sports Hall, on the 28th September 2003. They
were there to see five stars from the show, the recreation of the
Trotter flat, Trotters Ethnic Tours Bus, the Premiere showing of
Licensed To Drill and an array of new merchandise.
The Event started as usual at 12.00pm and by 12.30pm the hall
was filling to the point of bursting, so we decided to bring the
actors on stage at around 12.45pm, to enable them to start signing
autographs as soon as possible and reduce the already huge queue
for signatures.
The stage show started with a best of clips video which
introduced the day and got everybody in the mood for the day ahead,
I (Keith) then introduced, Sid (Roy Heather) on stage and asked him
a few questions, before being joined by Damien (Ben Smith), Denzil
(Paul Barber), Boycie (John Challis) and Marlene (Sue Holderness).
After a few minutes on stage the actors made their way to where
they would spend what must've seemed like a huge task, signing
everybody's memorabilia. At this point I then told everybody
that we had got an exclusive message to show from non other than
Slater (Jim Broadbent) himself, he told us where he's been since
leaving Peckham and also how he can't wait to get back, to get his
own back on Trotter. We then put the Premiere showing of
Licensed To Drill on which as you probably already know, we had
only found recently. As autographs were being signed and
photographs being taken we continued showing classic rare Only
Fools clips on the big screen.
The recreation of the Trotter flat once again proved to be
very popular with our Del Boy look-a-like posing with you to give
the whole picture an authentic look. Later on during the day
we brought the actors back on stage for everyone to see them and
get those all important pictures taken.
The whole day went very well with everyone enjoying
themselves, as you can see from the pictures below.
