SIR DAVID JASON OBE TO OPEN MAJOR NEW EXHIBITION AT YORKSHIRE AIR MUSEUM
The Yorkshire Air Museum is delighted to announce that, in a rare public appearance, Sir David Jason OBE, probably one of Britain's most well-known and respected television actors, will be officially opening the Museum's major new exhibition Against the Odds. This will take place on Wednesday 19th March 2008 from 12 noon.
Produced in association with the Imperial War Museum,
this is the definitive national exhibition and educational resource
about Bomber Command in WWII.It is fitting to be on permanent display at the Yorkshire Air
Museum, Elvington, site of the largest original Bomber Command
station open to the public in Britain and is incorporated in an
extensive exhibition hall and cinema complex, with striking
artefacts and audio visual displays.
Against the Odds details and explores the international
reasons for the formation of this unique force and the unparalleled
sacrifice of it's young airmen from all over the world in a highly
visual way, and shows the effects of aerial bombing of cities and
their populations still a highly controversial subject to this
day.
Aviation enthusiast and Honorary Member of the
Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial, Sir David
Jason is expected to fly himself in to the Museum by helicopter for
the opening. Sir David will attend a VIP
Reception which will include regional MP's, civil leaders, tourism
industry chiefs and Bomber Command veterans from 12 noon, with the
