How would you express typicial London?
Illustrator and animator Elliott Quince was commissioned to do just that.
In a nutshell he was commissioned by Cutty Sark Whisky to come up with an image that reflected their campaign idea of ‘the independent London whisky’. Elliott chose to bring together some of the colourful characters from London’s past and present focusing on people who have done things differently or with a unique style. He wanted representation from all corners of life (sport, music, art, fashion etc.) and when it came to comedy there was only ever going to be two candidates.
Elliott told OFAH, “I’ve been a fan of only fools and horses for as long as I can remember probably started to appreciate it around the age of twelve (I’m 33 now). There are so many great episodes and moments but a few of my favourites are the obvious ones like ‘play it cool Trig’, the chandeliers, Batman and Robin and the blow up dolls but i also love things like the ‘snow blindness’ line in the jolly boys outing and the Indian takeaway/ambulance scam episode but I think my favourite ever ofah moment is Denzil roller-skating along and high-fiving the butterfly in Del’s hands – priceless.”
