Derek Trotter has the Yuletide Blues, and drinks away his loneliness in Spanish night at The Nag’s Head.
There he meets Heather, who seems to be one friend short of company. Del Boy, ever the gentleman, entertains her and sees her home safely. At her flat he discovers that she has a young son, to a husband who seems to have joined a very long queue at the Job Centre 18 months ago and not come back.
In no time at all their romance blossoms, and all is running so smoothly Del decides to propose. However, when he takes her for a candle-lit curry, she refuses his offer of marriage. Her husband has returned, employed as a department store Santa, and she wants to give it another go… leaving Del Boy without an angel for Christmas.
Episode Observations
- In Diamonds are for Heather, During the dinner scene in the Indian restaurant, the shadow of a boom mike can be seen on the wall behind Del and Heather’s table.
- In Diamonds are for Heather, when Del gives Heather the ring, he says he got it from Abdul,a mate from Covent Garden. This fits with ‘To Hull and back’as Del goes to Holland for Boycie and Abdul.
- In Diamonds are for Heather, the lad who played Heather’s son Darren is also in Happy Returns as June’s son, Jason with a few years difference.
- In Diamonds are for Heather, Del and Heather take her kid out for the day- they then get kicked out of the Planetarium yet there is no KID!
Diamonds are for Heather Script
The script will be downloadable from here
Did You Know?
The idea for the script was to demonstrate Dels love for kids, and he really could be a family man if he put his mind to it.
Diamonds are for Heather Location
This is found today as the Alma Pub, which is on Chapel Market Islington
It is actually found in 2 episodes, the first one is It Never Rains and Diamonds are for Heather
I have the yellow silk scarf Del wears in this episode. The actual one!!
Was it definitely Dermot Morgan?
Hello, why has nobody else noticed that Dermot Morgan (Father Ted) is one of the choir in the last couple of minutes of the episode?
Probably because it isn’t Dermot Morgan!
I have found the restaurant that Del comes out of at the end in Kings Road just off Chiswick high Road. But does anybody know where the van is parked & the choir sing?
Does anyone know where the location is of the Curry house that Del comes out of at the end of the episode? Where the choir sing Old Shep. I’m guessing it’s around Acton in west London somewhere.
Chiswick high road.
When Darren kicks the ball to his ‘Uncle Del’ it is quite obviously going in a totally different direction to that of Del’s face.
To me, this is a lovely but forgotten episode, far more deserving of the accolade “classic” than its predecessor “Christmas Crackers”. In other words, anybody who hates this episode is a gay plonker! Anybody who likes this episode is a true OFAH fan.
For me this is the saddest episode of OFAH ever. However almost every their Xmas was unlucky don’t know why :)
