As we revealed earlier in the year Del boy is back.
Rock and Chips – BBC1 Sun 24 Jan 9pm
This time in a 90 minute drama setting, where we are hoping to see how other plotlines and stories tie up and what made Del, the Del we love so much. Of course Del boy is back with all his school mates including Trigger and Boycie and the infamous Slater. The long awaited prequel will be coming to your screens sometime early next year.

A young Del is played by James Buckley and he looks to be a perfect wheeler dealer for the part. James will play a teenage Derek Trotter in new BBC show Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Chips, a prequel to comedy classic Only Fools And Horses.
The Sun recently revealed “The Inbetweeners star pulled on a leather jacket and winkle-pickers yesterday and braved the rain in London for the first day of filming.
And the creme de menthe of the other characters – Denzil, Trigger, Boycie and soon-to-be copper Roy Slater – also appear as their younger versions. Del Boy’s tarty mum Joan, played by Kellie Bright, and work-shy dad Reg (Shaun Dingwall) were also on yesterday’s shoot. Ex-EastEnder Phil Daniels plays Del’s grandad Ted Trotter.
The one-off 90-minute show, set in 1960, is due to be screened next year. It revolves around Joan and her struggles to makes ends meet.
An insider said: “Joan is desperate for some glamour and excitement in her life because she’s not getting much with Reg.”
The plot thickens when “art connoisseur” – and safecracker – Freddie “The Frog” Robdal arrives on the scene on getting out of jail after a ten-year stretch.
Freddie soon sets his sights on Joan – which results in her getting pregnant with son Rodney. And mange tout! Nicholas Lyndhurst – “dozy old twonk” Rodney in Only Fools And Horses – will play Freddie.
Rodders is never seen in the new show – but Del Boy, Trigger (Lewis Osborne), Boycie (Stephen Lloyd) and Denzil (Ashley Gerlach) are all 16 and fresh out of school, where Slater was a prefect.
The source said: “Del Boy is a wheeler dealer from the word go.”
Producers found a corner of Greenwich, south-east London, for the month-long filming.
Writer John Sullivan said: “It is set in the real Sixties, before The Beatles and Mary Quant made London the coolest place on the planet.
“The drama will feature south London at its least glamorous, where money was scarce, the staple diet was rock salmon and chips, and the flicks offered the only hint of glamour.”
So get set for a real treat to all only fools and horses fans with the working title: Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Chips
I’ve just read up on Green, Green Grass and apparently Sullivan did indeed hand over the writing to others from the second series onwards. Still don’t know what bearing this has on the future of R&C of course, as it just seems more inconceiveable somehow that someone else should pen further episodes. To say it’ll be a hard act to follow just doesn’t cover it. Whatever happens, there’ll never be anyone overlooking Sullivan’s legacy or his status as one of the best sit-com writers the world has EVER witnessed. r.i.p
There will be much conjecture as to the future of Rock and Chips after today’s tragic news. I don’t know if it’s a good idea to make further episodes with different writers. Sullivan (unlike some other writers) was never prone to hand over his series to other people and as far as I know wrote/co-wrote every episode of any comedy he created. It’ll be sad if R&C’s obvious potential is cut short but… well maybe it just wasn’t meant to be. A sad, sad day.
I am huge fan of OFAH I have the complete box set and love watching it over and over. I have really been looking forward to Rock and Chips, and was not disappointed at all. The 2nd instalment was great the young characters were excellent, and loved the setting’s of 60’s London.
I only hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next episode.
Would love even more too see a brand new series!!!

Went to the filming of Harry Hills TV Burp the other day, and the guy talking to the crowd said he is playing the bartender in the nags head. Think he said the character was called 'Don'.
