Only Fools and Horses Cuts – Part 6<\/h2>\n

Last week we looked at Series Seven of \u00a0Only Fools and Horses. \u00a0Particularly the way episodes have lost original scenes when released on DVD in the UK.<\/p>\n

Today we turn our attention to one of the specials.<\/p>\n

The Jolly Boys Outing (1989)<\/h3>\n

The next special to be cut is the 1989 special \u201cThe Jolly Boys Outing\u201d. This is one of the most well-known cuts as the scene removed is easily remembered due to its content. The cut occurs after the hotel room scene, with Del, Rodney and Uncle Albert in bed. The last line of the scene is \u201cCome on then, just one quick light ale\u201d. After this line the DVD version cuts straight to the nightclub scene showing Del and Rodney with Trigger, Mike and Boycie. In the original version, Del and Rodney have a five minute conversation before they arrive. This cut was because of music and means the following lines have been lost:<\/p>\n

Del: \u201cBlinding bit of scampi, innit, eh? It\u2019s fresh an\u2019 all, you know. Straight out of the sea into your basket.”
\nRodney: \u201cYou don\u2019t get scampi off the coast.”
\nDel: \u201cOf course you do! It\u2019s the sea, innit?”
\nRodney: \u201cYeah, but it\u2019s Margate!”
\nDel: Yeah, \u201cI know that, but the scampi don\u2019t know that, do they?”
\nRodney: \u201cNo, I s\u2019ppose not.”
\nDel: \u201cEre, what was that starter\u2026um\u2026Cassandra made us last week?”
\nRodney: \u201cMoules Mariniere”
\nDel: \u201cMmm! That\u2019s it. They were lovely moules, an\u2019 all, weren\u2019t they, eh? \u2018Cos she\u2019s got style, see. I mean that Cassandra is a classy lady”
\nRodney: \u201cI suppose so.”
\nDel: \u201cNo, no suppose so about it. I mean, a lot of people- you know, cheapos \u2013 would have used mussels \u2013 not Cassandra.”
\nRodney: \u201cWe get on well.”
\nDel: \u201cMmm? Yeah, of course we do! Blimey!”
\nRodney: \u201cNo, I meant me and Cassandra.”
\nDel: \u201cOh I see. Well that\u2019s good, Because I mean your missus should be more than just your wife, you know. She should be your best mate an\u2019 all.”
\nRodney: \u201cYeah. It\u2019s just\u2026 sometimes you get the feeling\u2026I don\u2019t know how to explain it\u2026Have you ever read a book\u2026Well have you ever seen the film where someone marries beneath themselves?”
\nDel: \u201cOh, don\u2019t start that, Rodney! You have not married beneath yourself! Cassandra comes from a very lovely family! Your problem is you\u2019re letting her rule you. I mean, that cobblers tonight \u2013 you know, she wouldn\u2019t let you out! I mean, what are you, a man or a mouse? You\u2019ve gotta learn to assert yourself. I mean, I may sound old-fashioned, but you take my word for it, in the end a man likes a woman to be a woman! And a bird likes a bloke to be a bloke!”
\nRodney: \u201cD\u2019you know you\u2019re right! ”
\nDel: \u201cMmm, that is Bonnet de Douche, as they say in the Basque”
\nRodney: \u201cAbsolutely!”
\nDel: \u201cYeah, that\u2019s it. Oh \u2018ere, come on. Drink up, we\u2019ll have another one\u2026look who\u2019s here, the three musketeers, Oi Boycie! Boycie over here!”<\/p>
