THE BLACKOUT – An Only Fools and Horses Fan Script from Brandon<\/h2>\n

INT – TROTTER’S FLAT – NIGHT<\/p>\n

This entire script will take place in the flat. Del can be seen walking in. Rodney can be seen out in the hallway placing some boxes. Rodney also walks in.<\/p>\n

RODNEY: I can’t believe you made me carry them up all them stairs.
\nDEL: Oh stop complaining Rodders.
\nALBERT: It was quiet, until you two walked in.
\nDEL: Oh go to your room you soppy old goat.
\nRODNEY: Look at ma’ hands Del, they are red. I’ll have blisters by tomorrow.
\nDEL: Rodney, that’s the first bit of work you’ve done in weeks, so stop complaining.
\nRODNEY: Can I have my wages?
\nDEL: No, you are not getting anything after all that moaning. Ey Albert! You been drinking this?
\nALBERT: No.
\nDEL: Yes you have, there was much more than this left when I went this morning. As I checked it!
\nALBERT: Wha’ you checking that for?
\nDEL: So I know when you have been drinking my booze.
\nALBERT: Sorry Del.
\nDEL: Hah, Caught red handed once again. Super Del saves the day. Now go and do me a bacon butty will ya’?
\nALBERT: Oh alright Del. Want one Rodney?
\nRODNEY: No.
\nALBERT: Oh alright, was only asking.<\/p>\n

Albert goes in to the kitchen.<\/p>\n

DEL: You need to fix that attitude of yours son.<\/p>\n

Suddenly the power goes out.<\/p>\n

DEL: What’s happenin’?
\nALBERT: THE POWER HAS GONE OUT.
\nDEL: Well I know that you clown I mean why?
\nALBERT: Has the rest of the estate gone out?
\nDEL: I don’t know I’ll have a look.<\/p>\n

Rodney gets up to have a look, tripping over one of the boxes, as he cannot see.<\/p>\n

DEL: Rodney, what are you doing you plonker.
\nRODNEY: Coming to see.
\nDEL: Well you can’t can you, it’s pitch black innit.
\nRODNEY: Well I know that, but I wanted to see if the rest of the estate was out.
\nDEL: It is. Yeah Albert, the rest is out. Do you know where the candles are.
\nALBERT: I’ll go and look in my bedroom Del. They might be in there.
\nDEL: Alright, watch yourself, don’t trip over them boxes like this plonker!
\nRODNEY: Shut up.<\/p>\n

Del starts laughing.<\/p>\n

DEL: Wonder why the power has gone out?
\nRODNEY: Don’t know, but the rest of London must be out, it’s pitch black.
\nDEL: You found them Unc?
\nALBERT: Yeah. Here we are.<\/p>\n

Albert lights the candle.<\/p>\n

DEL: Light, at last. Put them over there. So when do you reckon it will be back on?
\nRODNEY: Depends if it’s a big power outage it could take them a while to fix it again.
\nALBERT: You know during the war..
\nRODNEY AND DEL: OH DEAR GOD.
\nALBERT: It used to be like this all the time. Pitch black darkness, so I’m used to this kind of atmosphere.
\nDEL: Really Unc, what a riveting story you have there.
\nALBERT: Well you didn’t let me finish. When I first started out, I was scared by the dark.
\nRODNEY: Really?
\nALBERT: Yeah, I used to lie awake at night, scared, wondering what’s out there.
\nDEL: So how did you get used to it then?
\nALBERT: I just sorta’ did, ya’ know when you are in that environment for so long, you soon get used to it.
\nDEL: I remember when you was scared of the dark Rodney, oh no sorry, you still are.
\nRODNEY: I was never scared of the dark.
\nDEL: You were, when you were a little kid you used to come crying in my room whenever it was dark. It’d be reyt late as well, I felt like kicking you in the head sometimes.
\nRODNEY: That’s nice.
\nDEL: You were a right little git. Used to have to come and show you that there were no monsters under your bed or anything. It was worse when I’d bring a bird round.
\nRODNEY: Yeah, I don’t wanna’ to know the details thanks Del.
\nDEL: I wasn’t going to tell you the details. Mind you I was probably the same when I was a young un’.
\nRODNEY: Yeah, I bet you were far worst!
\nDEL: No, I was a good kid me. Always respected me mum and dad.
\nALBERT: What a load of old pony.
\nDEL: What’s that supposed to mean Unc?
\nALBERT: Well before me and you grandad fell out I used to pop round on the odd occasion, right little git you were, used to kick me in the legs.
\nDEL: Yeah, if you don’t watch it now, I’ll do the same.<\/p>\n

*FADES OUT AND FADES BACK IN*<\/p>\n

It’s slightly later on, they are all looking bored and depressed.<\/p>
