Rafa Benitez has turned into a right Del Boy. Over recent times his English has taken on an unusual “Cushty” twang. After watching a severe amount of Only Fools and Horses, he now speaks like a true Del Boy.
He has been known to call everything “Luvvely Jubbly” and “Pucker” if its going well.
He picked up the lingo by watching Del Boy and Rodney in Only Fools And Horses.
The Spanish boss loves the BBC comedy classic, starring Sir David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst. His wife Montse told reporters in an interview: “In the evening we do as everyone does. After supper, we watch telly. He likes the comedies – Only Fools And Horses, My Family and Father Ted. For him it’s a good way of learning English as well.”
But the news will come as a shock for the Liverpool manager’s thousands of fans on Merseyside. That is because Del Boy’s Cockney twang is miles away from the Scouse accent.
So look out on “Match of the Day” this saturday – while all the fans and boardroom are jumping in the air with delight over a goal, Benitex will probably be shouting “Cosmic” and “Luvvely Jubbly”!
