Miami Twice – American Dream Episode review
Brief: Rodney receives his “Maxwell Money” from the printing firm’s pension fund. Del suggests he buys two tickets to Miami for him and Cassandra. When she can’t go he suggests who could take her place as well. He is in a bit of bother about some Romanian Riesling and needs to lay low for a while.

At Damien Trotter’s christening (much to Rodney’s horror), Del strikes a cushdy deal with the Vicar to sell pre-blessed wine around the country.
Rodney is living with Del and Albert on week days, and with Cassandra at weekends, on the advice of a Relate councillor.
Del organises a ‘two for one’ holiday for the Trotter clan, knowing full well that Cassandra will not be able to make it. When the brothers arrive in Miami, the family of mafioso boss Vincenzo Ochetti spot Del – who bears a striking resemblance to their Don.
Soon realising they are not simply being shown American hospitality, Del and Rodney flee… aided and abetted by Boycie, Marlene and their baby Tyler who are also in the states.
Upon a safe return to Peckham, they find dozens of crates of wine, which were deemed unfit for Holy Communion.
Episode Observation
- In Miami Twice (part 1), when Del asks Rodney if he is still going to Miami after Cassandra says no, Rodney replies “possibly” as he walks off, you can see a srudio light blurrs the camera(YOU CAN SEE THE BLUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN AT THE TOP).
- In Miami Twice (part 1), the windows inside the church don’t match the windows outside the church, this can be seen when Del walks into the church after Mike reminds him about paying for the christening do at the pub.
- In Miami Twice (part 1), Outside the church where Damien is christened, Rodney seems to have a very good tan before he goes to Miami (part 2).
- In Miami Twice (part 1), Rodney and Cassandra are seen in the beer garden of the Nags Head with benchs soft lights and Patio.Look at the carpark in Dates when the police pull up to the rear of the nags head it looks a little differant!
- In Miami Twice (part 1), Outside the pub after the Christening, Cassie tells Rodders that she is not dressing up as a victorian Maid for anyone – by the time we get round to Heroes and Villains that is precisely what she has done after Damian bought her bank !

The real world
In Miami Twice the church used in the opening scenes were the christening of Damien took place and Del struck a deal or two with Mickey and the VicarReality:
The church was St John’s Church. Though it was never dedicated as such. It is currently known as the Graet Apostolic Church and is found in Gighgate Road, Kentish Town, next to the forum club.
I don’t know if this is of interest to anyone or not (and I couldn’t find a way of contacting the site directly as there seems to be no ‘contact us’ details) but a user on youtube, whyayetv, has recently uploaded a whole lot of xmas trailers from BBC1 in late 80s and early 90s, and therefore there is a lot of OFAH trailers included. which is interesting becuase despite having just spent a large sum of money filming in the US they decide to promote the two feature length special by showing a short clip of a studio based mock-up of a travel agents. Initially I let them off because I reasoned they didn’t want to blow the surprise about the US filming, but then realised the scene used shows Del telling Rodney he bought the plane tickets, so the cat was pretty much out the bag anyway.
Whyayetv also has the promos for 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1985, and possibly there are several more (I’ve not had time to watch the several hundred clips on the channel yet) so there could be enough to constitute another article and even if not I would advise the site to make back-up copies of the videos before the BBC has them removed for copyright or something.
I have just watched the first part of Miami Twice and the episode is uncut on the BBC today with the kippers for free in america scene with Del singing as they get onto the plane, hopeing the 2nd part oh to be in England is uncut as well tomorrow
Hi guys, i know it’s a long shot but does anyone know how i can contact the bbc regarding the complete collection box set? I’ve lost Miami Twice (disc 17) and want to know if there is anyway i can buy a new one from them to make my collection complete again. I know i’m a moron and should’ve been more careful but hey ho!

Sarah you are not a moron mate – accidents happen with DVD’S I’ve lost loads in the past.
I think you’d be better trying to find the DVD on ebay – as you’d wait ages getting a response from the BBC. (thats providing they even respond at all).
