ONLY FOOLS AND ENGLAND 2006

 

 

Get ready for 'ONLY FOOLS AND ENGLAND' released on 19th June
2006  and set to the theme tune of the multi award winning BBC TV show 'Only Fools and Horses'.

 

 'ONLY FOOLS AND ENGLAND' is the brainchild of John Matthews,
lead singer with 90's band Undercover who scored two huge top five hits IN 1992, (BAKER STREET - chart position No. 2 , which subsequently went on to sell over a million copies world-wide and NEVER LET HER SLIP AWAY - chart position No. 5) , whilst signed to Pete Waterman's "PWL." record label.

 

 John Matthews,  ( who along with "Wayne Rooney", he mentions it in his new book!!)  is a complete 'Only Fools and Horses'  nut!),  came up with the unique plan of turning the theme tune to the UK's best loved sitcom, into the people's football song. 

 

Choosing from a list of all the influential managers and players from over the years and including all the names of the probable England starting line-up  against Paraguay on 10th June 2006,  John replaced the lyrics to the theme tune of 'Only Fools and Horses' .
What soundtrack could be better to unite the country and get behind the England team, a tune that makes us proud
to be English, as the new lyrics state "black or white, rich or poor, well go mad when England score"

 

 

 

 

The writer and creator of "Only Fools and Horses" - John Sullivan,  was contacted via his agent and a meeting was arranged to discuss the possibility of re-recording the song and changing the lyrics.
John Sullivan's agent  was so impressed with it he immediately took it to John Sullivan to play, and he loved it so much he gave his blessing and permission for the track to be re-recorded and released. 

 

 'ONLY FOOLS AND ENGLAND' is  a  people's football song, a real sing-along song, a  true fans song, that you CAN sing on the terraces.
