Only Fools Success - Great actors
There
is a lot of writing around at the moment and Jim Broadbent is the
reason why.
For a long time David Jason has been considered as one of
Britiains finest actors. Joining him at the moment has to be
Jim Broadbent known to many in only fools as "Slater" or Raquels
original husband.
Jim Broadbent is in the latest Indiana Jones
movie. He has just recently received some great reviews for his
part in When Did You Last See Your Father, which
he is joined by fellow Brit actor Colin Firth. He is also working
on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood
Prince, this will also help to elevate his status.
Jim Broadbent has been on the acting scene for years and first
appeared on our screens in Only Fools and Horses
as Detective Chief Inspector Roy Slater in the Series 3
episode :
May the Force be with
you, where D.I. Slater (The Slag) is on the track of a
stolen microwave oven & Delboy is in the frame. Still Del knows
who did it, so Del pulls off a classic deal with Roy.
Jim Broadbent played a great part and John Sullivan soon
decided to bring him back. Ironically Jim was shortlisted to play
Del Boy before David Jason was finally chosen. Back in these
early eighties sitcom episodes who would of thought that he
would end up becoming one of the UK's best actors, as well as an
Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. His acting seems to be effortless
compared to many of America's best.
Jim Broadbent is just one of many British actors enjoying
success in Hollywood. Colin Firth is another along with James
McAvoy, Ray Winstone as well as a host more. Some critics
worry that Britain is being left behind when it comes to making
movies, we have some of the greatest actors in the world, but they
have to go to America to get the best part. Well done Jim on
another milestone since fools and Horses.
