You may of been familiar with the Only Fools and Horses Cuts that our fans have already found over the previous months. Well we have a few more to add to the collection. We all dream of the day the BBC decide to put it all back in, but for now it’s a case of waiting or watching UK Gold.
As there are many cuts to Only Fools and Horses, Some can be missed. This article looks at the minor cuts that were missed in the previous articles. As they are minor, there is not much lost from the episodes, but it can explain why some scenes look edited.
Christmas Crackers
A minor edit is made to the Christmas Special, “Christmas Crackers”, when the Trotters are in the club; a piece music which is unknown is removed and replaced with replaced with “Wordy Rapping hood” by the Tom Tom Club. This does not have any effect on the scene and is hardly noticed.
Thicker Than Water
The next cut that was missed was made to another Christmas special, “Thicker than Water”. This cut was not because of music, but out of respect for the actor Lennard Pearce (granddad), who died in 1984. Only a small part of the scene is cut. After the line “Not only that, he walked out on his own father” the following lines are lost:
Del: “In all that time he didn’t know whether granddad was alive or dead.”
Rodney: “Well we’re never sure, are we?”
There are not many copies of the full episode in existence as only original 1983 recordings contain the line, making them very rare.
We’ll take a look at a few more tomorrow
